VDL has a strong focus on today's and tomorrow's liveable society. A successful development from cities to sustainable and connected environments (smart cities) is heavily reliant on infrastructure. Access to data and energy, combined with smart mobility, are central to this. VDL is active internationally in various infrastructure projects. We design and manufacture components and end products for, among others, bridges, street furniture, parcel lockers, telecom networks, energy networks, rail networks, housing, charging infrastructure, and smart lighting and communication masts. Additionally, related services are provided for the construction, conversion, and expansion of small and large-scale infrastructure projects.
Revenue Development
The revenue in Infratech has increased by approximately 6 percent, from €144 million in 2024 to €152 million in 2025. The market remains highly active. Governments are focusing on the sustainability of public spaces, construction, and infrastructure. The Infrastructure sector in the Netherlands faces a significant renovation and renewal challenge, which offers opportunities for VDL. On the other hand, the pressure on the Dutch manufacturing industry remains high. Our competitive position is at risk due to increasing legislation and regulation as well as very high energy and labour costs. Additionally, issues with grid congestion, especially in the Netherlands, cause delays. By focusing on larger projects and more complex products, we, as a total supplier, can deliver more added value. This approach has led to an increase in turnover for the VDL companies active in this sector in 2025.
Outlook
The outlook for Infratech in 2026 is positive, driven by sustained demand for the replacement and expansion of telecommunications, energy, and railway infrastructure, with the realisation largely dependent on available (government) funding.
